Hello and welcome to HCM,
Polymorphs are type of white blood cells which are increased in case of infections and inflammations.
The total white blood cell count is also required to analyze the polymorphs up to 73%.
The normal range of polymorphs is between 50-70%.
An elevation in number of polymorphs is suggestive of infection or inflammation anywhere in body.
The elevated polymorphs come down to normal as the infection subsides or infection is treated.
Please post your total blood cell also for more information.

Thanks and take care

General & Family Physician Dr. Ashakiran S's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Polymorphs are one of the constituent of white blood cells in the blood. They are also commonly referred as neutrophils.
They are considered to be the bodyguards in body.Their function is to protect the body from infection and inflammation caused by several diseases.
Since it is just 3% more than the normal range, there is no need to worry much if other counts are normal.
Be relaxed and if you have any symptoms of infection, then you need to take a course of antibiotics accordingly. It will not cause any problems in future as these cells only increase during acute infections and return back to normal following appropriate treatment.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Wish you good health.
