I have had COPD for ten years. Recent chest X-ray identified infiltrates. CT lung scan results: ill-defined densities minimal linear nodular densities minimal tree-in-bud appearance may be minimal bronchiectasis linear nodular changes chronic lobe medial interstitial changes left lingular focal atelectasis What does this mean?
Your CT findings may suggests many types of changes in lung due to chronic illness. It suggests bronchiectasis, nodular densities, interstitial changes and focal atelectasis in left lingular region of lung. Main problem at present may be due to nodular densities. It may be due to many causes like recent or past infection, autoimmune causes etc. So,it is important to rule out infection. You may need clinical correlation and routine investigations.
Bronchiectasis is irreversible loss of architecture of bronchioles. It is only minimal. Focal atelectasis(loos of aeration in lung)may be due to past chronic infection, retained secretions etc. Interstitial changes in lungs may be due to many causes including infection etc.
These are the signs of chronic lung diseases, like in your case COPD. No need of worry. Continue your medications of COPD and stop smoking (if you are having habit)
