What Does My CT Scan Report Indicate?

A ct scan revealed a mass of about 9 cm, and also a spot on my right breast. the mass seems to be located in middle right lobe of lung. They are saying with the Christmas holidays here, I may not see a specialist until after the first. This bothers me as I am a breast cancer survivor, have had pneumonia about 10 times and I have pain in my back. what could you suggest?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First, let me tell you that mass of 9 cm doesn't indicate cancer. In CT mass represents a collection of fluids, pus or fat collection or soft tissue mass.

For confirmation of cancer, it requires a histological diagnosis of tissue taken from a particular part of the body.

So no need to worry. Wait until the specialist come from holidays. It requires sequential testing for confirming cancer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
