Husband s recent CT scan shows left hydronephrosis and hydroureter 8 weeks post surgery from cystectomy due to bladder/prostate cancer. Left hydronephrosis and hydroureter was present a year ago when his Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma recurred and a stent was placed so that he could proceed with immunotherapy treatment. When the other cancers occurred, stent was removed - no kidney nor ureter disfunction - lymphoma in remission. Besides showing the above there also is mild dilatation of mid small bowel to the level of a small bowel anastomosis. Contrast is visualized distal to the anastomosis. What does it saying about the GI tract?
After surgery in the abdomen, the mobility of the bowel loops is reduced, hence contrast is visualized in the bowel loops, it can be a normal finding.
If I were your treating doctor, I would like to evaluate for any symptoms and rule out intestinal obstruction, since it a common complication after abdominal surgery.
If you are having normal bowel movements, I don't think there is anything to worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
