What Does My CT Scan Result Indicate?

hi I have had a bit of problem with my sinuses and had a ct scan which revealed that I had extensive mucosal thickening within the paranasal sinuses and the left frontal sinus. It also stated that I had mucosal contact disease on the left drainage pathway.Could you please explain to me in layman's terms what this means and what my next course of action should be?

Thanks for contacting HCM

You are concerned about your CT scan results. The results show that you have a chronic sinus infection. The lining of the nasal passages are thick from swelling and infection. Also of note is that the usual passageways in your sinuses and nose are blocked due to the swollen lining that makes drainage difficult.

With this reading I have my patient take an antibiotic for at least 4 weeks and then see if the symptoms improved. If they do not then you may need to see an ENT for possible sinus surgery.

Hope this answers your question. Please contact us again with your medical concerns and questions
