What Does My CT Scan Result Indicate?
I have a 3.5 mm nodule in the base of my right lung. CT scan from 9/24/14. Non-smoker. 43 year old male. What are the chances that this is malignant? My PCP wants me to take another CT scan this coming Monday 12/8. The first CT scan was a pelvic/abdomen scan. The one on 12/8 will be a chest scan.

1.The report suggest presence of a solitary pulmonary nodule in the right lung base on an incidental scan of abdomen and pelvis.
2.The nodule with more than 3 mm do have a chance to turn in to malignancy in up to 20% chances with associated signs and symptoms.
3.In this case the doctor wants to get a CT to see the present condition - to monitor the doubling time of the lesion size.
4.In this case one has to get a followup scans to monitor the status of the lesion and adjacent structures.
5.At the same time since it was not a dedicated study of the chest earlier - to evaluate any more similar lesions, and contrast will also needed if any more lesions identified.
