I had an MRI brain without contrast. It all looks normal, I guess but "Focal T2 hyperintensities in the deep white matter are identified. these lesions nonspecific however likely represent microvascular ischemic disease. Can you please interpret what that means?
I read your query and I understand your concern. The results speaks of changes related to narrowing till occlusion of small blood vessels, which haven't been established overnight but slowly over the years. It is no reason for immediate panic, common if of an advanced age, but you should pay attention to vascular risk factors in the future in order to slow down their progress. By risk factors I mean high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, obesity, sedentary lifestyle. Taking low dose aspirin is also advisable. If on the other hand you are young and without any of those factors then you should be evaluated by a physician and with further tests for other possible causes like inflammatory conditions or genetic inherited conditions. Hope to have been of help.
