What Does My SGPT And SGOT Levels Indicate?

hello, My SGPT is 73 and SGOT is 32. What does this indicate and does this require me to completely stop consuming alcohol? I usually have a few drinks on weekends and thats it. What else can help lower SGPT? What are the different levels for these enzymes?

Hi dear thanks for writing to healthcare magic!!
Be relax there is not much to worry about your liver enzyme as your your SGOT is 32 within normal range.( Normal range 5-45 IU/L) and SGPT is 73 ( Normal range 5-45 IU/L) slightly elevated. For that prophylactic measures will help you such as take lots of fluids and keep yourself hydrated, avoid high protein diet for few days and avoid oily and junk food, take fresh vegetables. If you are worried about effect of alcohol I advise you to check GGT levels in serum which is a better indicator to check alcohol effect.Else nothing much to worry.
Hope this will help you
Thanks and regards
