This is the results of my standing X-ray. I ve heard that arthroscopic surgery is to be avoided, but this sounds like a possible surgery. What are your thoughts? A bipartite patella is noted and there appears to be subtle increase in degenerative change at the pseudoarticulation of the patellar fragments, with increasing associated subarticular cyst formation. There is subtle progression of lateral compartment marginal degenerative spurring. Examination appears otherwise normal
1.The report sounds like there is need of surgery as you had said - with above information. The degenerative changes in the joint and patella are seen as a age related changes or excessive weight bearing work. 2.The congenital variation of the patella with high and low placed. 3.But if its post trauma changes then the operative treatment is must and should with wire fixation. 4.Sub articular cyst can be ganglion formation, usually from the ligaments, nerves and tendons. 5. Depending on the age and underlying medical condition and pain severity the treatment. Operative or conservative.
Good luck. Hope i have answered your query, any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-ganesh/62888
