What Does My X Ray Report With Early Degenerative Spondylosis Indicate?
Dear sir,
From few days,I have severe pain in left side of the neck and in my left shoulder.I hv consult the doctor,he has advice me to take Xray.I have taken Xray.In that report two remarks are there. 1. Right sided cervical rib 2. Early degenerative spondylosis as evident by marginal osteophytes formation.
Sir please explain about these. Is it a serious problem. Please tell about it.
Findings suggests degenerative disc disease of spine. It is not a serious problem. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.
1.Right sided cervical rib is a normal anatomical variation. In most of the cases,it only require conservative treatment. However, surgical removal can be done in refractory cases. 2.There are also spondylotic changes in spine with marginal osteophytes.Osteophytes are formed due to chronic stress on annulus fibrosis.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first. Surgery should be the last option. Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.
