Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
: A 50-year-old man with no apparent health problems who is moderately active and normal weight has the following blood values: high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol = 30 mg/dL; low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol = 160 mg/dL; and triglycerides = 300
Your findings suggest raised triglyceride and LDL level. It is important to know cholesterol level. You may need clinical evaluation and few investigations. Investigations include routine hemogram, random blood sugar, liver and renal function test, urine RE/ME and ultrasound of abdomen.
Initially,I suggest diet and life style changes. Avoid saturated fat and take low of fibers in your diet. Avoid alcohol, smoking if you take these things. I also suggest my patients to take tablet atorvastatin 10 mg and fenofibrate 160 mg single dose at night after dinner. It will control elevated lipids in blood.
