What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate When Diagnosed With SOD?

I have been diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction after having the Hida Scan procedure. My blood tests are coming back normal as was the ultrasound. I have suffered 3 attacks that left me at the emergency. I can tolerate next to no fats without pain. I find the Buscopan prescribed to me useless. I follow a strict diet. I have been rejected twice to see a specialist as I still have my Gallbladder no one takes me seriously. I am told it is irritable bowel. I have dealt with food allergies for 5 years and could not understand why things were not improving. What can I do to get my problem rectified

Hi,

lf you have already these lab tests done, please avoid it.
- Stool examination complete
- Serun amylase, lipase, serum trypsin
- IGE levels/eosinophils
- Diet diary [elimination diet useful in diagnostic / therepeutic studies not food eaten and symptoms]
- Generalised treatment include:
a] Diet [avoid alcohol, smoking, nicotine, caffeine, non-veg] instead medium chain fatty acids are good vitamin B12 can be taken [milk and milk products fortified cereal]
- Take a balanced [fruits, salads, vegetables] diet
- Join online art of living course

It is helpful to prevent relapse and prevent psychological issues, it is very good for food allergies related with disease, it shows in my patient unknown healing mechanism also. These above tests with may if needed imaging study will tell pharmacological or surgical correction if needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
