What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

I recently had a blood panel drawn, and was told my ESR was 28, and my ASO Titre is at 352. (I am a 31 year old female) My doctor wants me on antibiotics because she thinks it was from strep throat. The problem is, I have not had a sore throat nor have I been coughing or feeling ill. I ve had strep several times as a child, and I know it is not a fantastic experience, so I m pretty sure I would know if I had it now? Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Your blood test report shows elevated ESR level. Your ASO titre rate is also elevated. You have a history of having strep infection several times. Anti-streptolysin O (ASO) titer is a blood test to measure antibodies against Streptolysin O, a substance produced by group A streptococcus bacteria. Antibodies are proteins our bodies produce when they detect harmful substances, such as bacteria.

You are suggested to have a complete health check up done, get all routine and required investigations and imaging tests done to detect the pathology. You will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any. Take adequate sleep.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
