What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

My husbands last blood pannel showed very low sodium 129 we got him up to 136 which is still below low normal. But this is after salting his food extra and being told to tale 1 tsp salt daily (for last 3 days my husband thought 4 would be better and didn t tell anyone. I feel his last sodium test could be a false read not sure if thats possible. He was having dizzyness, nausia, and imbalance. He also, has Celiac which we found out 4 yrs ago he now is 69. He had a tramatic brain injury about 20 yrs ago. He is on Tegritol, Keppra and Coumadin. He became a Coumadin failure becauce of the Celiac Spuee(??) which took 4 mos for Docs to diagnoise i had my suspitions after long nights of research on computer while husband was in hospital for 10 days after loosing 27 Lbs in 10 days prior. He weights 154 Lbs wet regularly We had seen the gasto Doc 2 days before hospital and they gave him pepto and said hed be fine. When admitted to hospital everything was out of wack electrolites, potassium, etc, etc . The gastro Doc said it was Microscopic colitis and you can t have that and Celiac at same time. Finally 4mos later we blood tested him for Celiac and he had 100% then. After about 6mos we got him off Lovinox and back on Coumadin yaaaaaaa much less $$$. He also has ostiophosis and astiopene sorry if I spell them wrong. We have elected to treat it without meds only because of side effects and he already takes alot of volital meds. Primary Doc has him on pescription Vit D, calicum, fish oil, magnisium and folic acid. He also takes Vit B 100, B12. But my husband thinks he has to take all these other suppliments he gets at health food store. My big concern is he takes that 2 part cleanse you are only to take for 30 days he has been taking for 2 yrs and I feel it is flushing his sodium along with other nutrients right out of his body. Our prim Doc tried to tell him in a nice way but he didn t get it. And we have been diagreeing on it for 2 weeks I say he is killing himself he says Iam nuts and his healthfood guy knows best Do you have any Ideas for the cause and or for a cure Thanks so much for you time Robin

Hello,

The 2 part cleanse your husband has been taking for 2 years might be causing adverse effects like electrolyte imbalance low sodium. He needs to stop taking it and continue the multivitamin supplements recommended by doctor. Explain your husband about the probability of liver failure and rarely liver cancer with health food store supplements like 2 part cleanse.

Low sodium in body occurs due to certain medications like Thiazide diuretics, heart, kidney and liver problems, chronic severe vomiting or diarrhea, using drug Ecstacy, hormonal changes and drinking excessive water. In your husband's case, it is due to taking 2 part cleanse. So he must stop it and take sodium supplements. 136 is a normal sodium level. so please don't worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
