Hello sir, Six months ago my TSH was 7.42 and doctor advice me to take blood check againafter six months. Now i give my blood for TSH, TOTAL T4 and TPO AB but during giving blood i was suffering from sore throat, illness and cough. TSH=8.15 TPO AB=more than 600 TOTAL T4=9.33ug/dl Are these all values increased due to i was ill or all these are correct data... Please suggest me......
Sore throat and cough does not affect thyroid test results. Your TSH levels and TPO values are above normal limits. You are hypothyroid and should be started with levothyroxine supplement, if not yet started. I suggest to start with a lower dose of 12.5 to 25 mcg. The drug should be taken everyday, first thing in the morning, atleast half an hour before food. Repeat the test after a month for further titration of the dose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
