What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

I had a cholesterol blood test on Thursday, Friday my arm was bruised and quite tender, Saturday the bruise was larger and in addition to the tenderness, there was/is a reddish line progressing up my arm. I went to urgent care, the physician gave me an antibiotic injection and prescribed another antibiotic to take plus Ibuprofen. She called the condition phlebitis(?) and cautioned me to go to ER if redness progressed. How serious is phlebitis?

Usually is not a life threatening condition. Phlebitis means that one vein of your arm is infected (probably from needle injection that you have done) so the vein is thrombosed and than the thrombus progresses in some distance centrally. Usually it is treated with antiinflamatory, may be antibiotics and some time even with Heparine based medication and you will have full recovery.
