Just had a Chest CT and it was noted that attention to the mediastinal structures demonstrates evidence of some lymph nodes within the mediastinum with a right paratracheal lumph node in the range of 9x8mm and a small left paratracheal lymph node near the AP window measuring 6mm. Other lymph nodes are also in the region of the AP window. Soft tissue density in the perivascular space, ill-defined tissue in the anterior mediastinum that may reflect some residual thymus. What does all this mean
There are small peanut sized lymphnodes in the chest behind the heart and along the trachea. These are small right now and need to be correlated with the problem you have. Mediastinal lymph nodes are lymph nodes located in the mediastinum. The mediastinum is an area in the central part of the chest in between the two lungs. Lymph nodes are small structures located all over the body around blood vessels and are a part of the lymph system of the body. They can be enlarged due to infection, autoimmune conditions or rarely in a malignancy.
Residual thymus is not a concern and refers to normal appearance of thymus.
