I recently had some chest tightening and was seen in an ED. My CXR showed a small calcific density in the left upper lobe. I had a follow up CXR that showed a 2mm calcified granuloma and bilateral basilar atelectasis. My father has idiopathic pulmonary firbrosis. I have been referred to a pulmonologist, but was wondering if this could be fibrosis or some type of cancer. Thanks

What Does My Chest Xray Report Indicate?
Hello, Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is not cancer condition. In lung cancer mass is seen in chest x-ray. For idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, steroid course can be prescribed. Fibrosis is irreversible condition and cannot be reverted back. Consult the pulmonologist for examination and discuss your case. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
