What Does My Chest Xray Report Indicate?

I recently had some chest tightening and was seen in an ED. My CXR showed a small calcific density in the left upper lobe. I had a follow up CXR that showed a 2mm calcified granuloma and bilateral basilar atelectasis. My father has idiopathic pulmonary firbrosis. I have been referred to a pulmonologist, but was wondering if this could be fibrosis or some type of cancer. Thanks

Hello,

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is not cancer condition. In lung cancer mass is seen in chest x-ray.

For idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, steroid course can be prescribed. Fibrosis is irreversible condition and cannot be reverted back.

Consult the pulmonologist for examination and discuss your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
