I had a colonoscopy on Wednesday and it caused my prostate to become inflamed and enlarged to the extent I could not urinate. Catheter was placed for two days, removed Saturday and placed on antibiotic. Now Sunday and can barely urinate. What should I do? Thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is difficult to urinate with inflammed prostate. Your catheter was removed on Saturday and you developed problem on Sunday.
It means that inflammed prostate has not recovered. You need catheter for next 3 or 4 days, till then, antibiotics will work.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Varinder Joshi
