What Does My Cytology Test Result For Urine Indicate?
my husband has had a trace of blood in his urine for the pat few years. Cytology test have always been negative, but now this past September the cytology report (urine voided) is showing positive for malignant cells. Numerous urothelial cells (singly and in atypical clusters) mixed inflammatory cells and background necrotic debris, consistent with papillary urothelial dysplasia. What does this mean?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. One of the causes for appearance of blood in urine is due to 'urinary bladder carcinoma'. May be last few years, it might be in the initial stage which has presented with only with blood in urine with no cytology changes. Presently, what report has been shared suggests that there in appearance of malignant cells, indicating urinary bladder cancer. You need to get his urinary system evaluated by means of ultrasound abdomen and CT scan, so that more information could be collected towards it and plan for appropriate management. Kindly consult Urologist for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
