Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor, A week ago I had heavy bleeding and clotting, this never happened before (btw I m 51) and on visiting the Gynec specialist and the test results showed the Endometrium lining as 18 mm and she has put me on a twice a day dose of Primolut - Nor for 5 days to stop the bleeding. I m concerned about this 18 mm thickness, after what Ive read online and a doctor friend says I shouldnt be taking it easy.. as she is surprised as to why the doctor has given the next appointment after 10 days. Also I have constant pain in my lower abdomen area which tends to spread to my lower back. Please advise.
* As per my surgical experience, the endometrial thickness of 18 mm is suggestive of myometrium thickening and the matter is of an important issue as there is heavy bleeding at 51 years of age.
* In my clinic, I do recommend removal of the uterus if conservative therapy does not respond well to control the heavy menses on regular basis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
