General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Cortisone injection mostly relieves inflammation & relieves pain due to inflammation. But it takes time to act, please wait for a day to get some relief.

If it is intramuscular injection. Of the injection was in the joint. It will take a couple of days to act.

MRI would be best gadget to assess health of the joint in case of no response.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
