Hi.. i got my Herpes test result back. Here is the result Component Your Value Standard Range HSV 1 IGG, EIA 5.00 0.90 HSV 2 IGG, EIA 0.10 0.90 Hsv 1 IgM Negative Negative HSV 1 TITER REFLEX Not indicated HSV 2 IGM, QUAL Negative Negative HSV 2 TITER REFLEX Not indicated HSV 2 IGM, QUAL Negative Negative HSV 2 TITER REFLEX Not indicated Based on this information - I understand I have had hsv 1 but have not had a recent outbreak - is this true? Does that mean my partner is still at risk for contracting HSV 1?
As per your test results, you had herpesvirus 1 infection. But IgM is negative. So presently there is no active infection in body. But chances of developing infection with partner is obvious.
So better to use condoms for prevention of infection among partner. and also have a laboratory check-up for your partner. if it's positive then directly go for treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
