Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I as diagnosed with a lower o]pole of the right kidney is a hypoechoic 2.0 x 1.5 x 1.6cm rounded hypeochic area It could represent a solid mass or a comples cyst with echoes. I am going to have an MRI this week without gadolinium. Should I take the gadolinium? What does all mean?
Gadolinium is a metal or salt which absorbs neutrons and used for contrast agent during MRI procedure to reveal the tissue details more precisely. The kidneyultrasound is suggestive of mass lesion or complex cyst and the differentiation can be obtained via MRI with contrast very easily or another one is biopsy of kidney, which is invasive and not mandatory at this stage before MRI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
