Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
There is massive dilation of the right renal pelvis n moderate dilates toon of the left renal pelvis. Mild to moderate right sided hydro nephritis n mild fullness of left renal collecting system. The pelycalyceal systems on both sides r I pacified but the ureters r not filled w contrast. Layering contrast is noted within massively dilated right renal pelvis. No solid or enhancing renal mass is seen on either side. My GFR is 104. Do I need to surgery for UPJO ???
This is the report of your ultrasound or pyelography reporting that there is blockage to the pelvi-ureteric junction. This is the area wherein the collecting system in the kidney called pelvis gets narrowed to continue as ureter. The commonest causes are stones but not indicated in your report. Due to some muscle or nerve problems the normal function of the junction gets disturbed and thus causes some kinking or stricture formation causing such blockage as seen in your report.
I would advise you to consult an urologist for further evaluation, examination and investigations. Go for surgical correction as and when suggested. GFR is normal. Also, needed is kidney functions like urea and creatinine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
