Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What does L3-4: Concentric disc bulge with superimposed bilateral foraminal to extra foraminal broad based protusions, worse on left side with left foraminal annular fissure. Minimal bilateral facet hypertrophic changes & mild bilateral ligament flavor thickening noted without stenosis or neural foramin all narrowing mean? And L4-5 are the same except for mild bilateral facet changes with left neural foramin all encroachment, no spinal stenosis.
I have gone through your MRI report and usually there are two areas of concern for any kind of stenosis. The first area is the central spinal canal and the second are the neural foraminae so judging by your MRI report, although broad based disc protrusions are present but there is no central spinal canal stenosis. however, the exiting neual foraminae are involved on both L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels and in addition to this age related changes are appreciated in the spine, like, bilateral facet hypertrophic changes and bilateral ligamentum flavum thickening.' In short, the report does not indicate any serious abnormality. But the main thing is to consider the overall clinical picture. If you are having any symptoms of nerve compression, like altered sensation i any limb, or weakness of any limb then I would suggest you consult your local neurophysician for clinical evaluation and further treatment accordingly.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good health.
