Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
L1-2: No posterior disc herniation, canal stenosis, or neural foraminal narrowing. Mild facet arthropathy. L2-3: Diffuse posterior disc bulge flattening the ventral thecal sac extending into the right greater than left subarticular recesses. Mild facet arthropathy. No significant canal stenosis. Mild right neural foraminal narrowing. Unremarkable left neural foramen. L3-4: Diffuse disc bulge flattening the ventral thecal sac extending into the subarticular recesses. Mild ligamentum flavum thickening and facet arthropathy resulting in multifactorial mild canal stenosis. Mild to moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. L4-5: Uncovering of the posterior disc with superimposed disc bulge. Moderate facet arthropathy and ligamentum flavum thickening resulting in near complete effacement of the subarachnoid CSF space within the thecal sac. Moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing with deformation of the exiting nerve roots. L5-S1: Mild disc bulge without mass effect on the thecal sac. Mild facet arthropathy. No significant canal stenosis. Moderate left neural foraminal narrowing with possible impingement on the exiting left L5 nerve root. What does all of this mean?
The narrated report is indicative of spinal cord issue with osteoarthritis, degenerative changes or else.
As the required piece of information in terms of symptoms of the patient are not available, it is very difficult to comment the further guidelines, but I can surely tell that if sufficient trial of conservative treatment is offered without results then surgery is a must.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
