Hi my wife is applying for visa in New Zealand, the immigration officer as about below: Requirement Description Chest clinic investigation about radiological abnormality Please provide a report detailing history, physical examination findings, diagnosis, management and prognosis of the radiological abnormality noted on a current PA chest x-ray. This showed a right apical linear opacity. What will i do?
Opacities in the lungs are seen on a chest radiograph when there is a decrease in the ratio of gas to soft tissue in the lungs. The opacities may represent areas of lung infection. Linear apical opacity is most commonly caused by healed old tuberculosis. Your wife must had suffered lung TB in past. Consult a private or government doctor for issuing fitness certificate he/she might check your X – ray or might recommend additional tests. Very rarely, linear opacity is caused by tumor. So, additional test is needed for your wife’s safety. Nature of opacity can be confirmed by high resolution CT scan (HRCT). So get done HRCT of chest which will clear the picture and any doctor can issue a fitness certificate and confirming from report. Thanks
