Hello Dr. My mother has been suffering from loss of appetite and nausea, vomiting from many days...and my mother s test report says *blood urea value 76mg/dl and normal range is 10 -50 *Serum Creatinine value is 2.66mg/dl and normal range is 0.5-1.4 Please tell us what to do? Thank You Puneeta
The labs are suggestive of decreased kidney function. Likely chronic. at this point, it's not too severe and can be managed on medications.
Additional tests like electrolytes and possibly ultrasounds and a urinalysis may help diagnose the etiology.
Are you a diabetic or do you have high BP? these are a few conditions that explain it.
At this point, your doctor could help optimize the medication of the underlying cause and perhaps put you on a diuretic to improve renal clearance. Additionally, electrolyte corrections may be required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
