Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello! I had a non-fasting lab result for AST=52 and an of ALT=54 last night. If I went out to dinner the night before and had three glasses of wine, how significant are these values. I know I need to get them down and what I need to do. Thanks for your input!
Hello dear I understand your concern According to NABL laboratory normal reference range for the AST: 17-62 IU/L______________52____NORMAL ALT:21-72 IU/L______________54____NORMAL
So your ASL and ALT is completely normal. It is clinical significance when value rise 6-8 fold higher along with deranged liver panel test. GGT test should be done to know the alcohol toxicity compare tO AST and ALT. So do not worry, your test is completely normal. Take healthy diet and avoid excessive alcohol. Hope this may help you
