Hello,
Your urine report shows pus cells (vis-a-vis
WBC) 4-6/hpf. An increase in the leucocyte count in the urine most commonly implies infection.
If number of WBCs in uncentrifuged mid-stream urine in women is
•10 /mm3, it is abnormal.
•3-10 /mm3, it is of doubtful significance.
•If number of WBCs in uncentrifuged mid-stream urine in men is > 3/mm3, it is abnormal.
•If the number of WBCs in centrifuged mid-stream urine in both men and women is > 5 WBCs/HPF, it is abnormal.
Accordingly, it will indicate infection(UTI). I feel you should subject urine for culture & sensitivity test for confirmation.
In both sexes at least 200 ml should be passed before collecting a midstream urine specimen without interrupting the flow of urine, for culture & sensitivity test.
Also, there are Non-infective causes of WBCs in urine:
Nephrocalcinosis,
Papillary necrosis,
Analgesic nephropathy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
