What Does My Liver Function Test Indicate?

Hi, my son went for his yearly physical and his AST was 65 and his ALT was 14. He has been on a slow carb protein diet for years to keep his weight down with a cheat day every few weeks. Could the AST be high from this diet. Thank you Sorry for the question I thought it was free

Hello dear
I understand your concern
According to NABL laboratory following are the reference range of the
AST: 17-62 IU/L
ALT: 21-72 IU/L

So your AST is just above the higher side.
5-15 times fold higher value of the AST with increase bilirubin and deranges liver profile should be concerned.
AST value 65 has no any clinical significant.
Low carbohydrate and protein diet dose not significantly affect the AST value.
