Thanks, I am 70 yrs old and have been drinking nearly every day for 50 yrs - ex- military, (mainly beer and red wine with the occasionally whiskey or Tia Maria equivalent). I eat a healthy diet of fruit and vegs, with red meat once per week, a reasonable amount of fish and chicken, and do not eat fast foods or eat many fatty or fried foods. I take a daily supplement of liver assist tabs eg. Hepamax, milk thistle Sea-quill Symarin and other recommended liver tabs from chemists/health food stores (only take one per day). However, my GGT blood count, today, was 650!! My SGOT = 79, SGPT = 60, Bilirubin Direct = 0.55. My sgot and sgpt, albeit in the red around this level for 10 yrs or so , seems to reasonably stable. BUT my Gamma GT, seems to me to be far too high - twice the level it was five yrs ago! now at 650!! So, please Doctor - with the exception of reducing my alcohol intake by half and making sure of two alcohol free days per week, giving up my daily intake of 700ml full cream milk and lots of cheddar cheese et al, what extra advice are you able to give me - that is if I stay a good boy for a couple of months or so? I honestly look forward to your constructive and helpful comments. Many thanks for your advice if forthcoming, and if so, I may be able to assist/advise others in this domain who also seem to have a problem similar to my own. HOW WRONG I WAS - ENJOY YOUR GREED DOCTORS, THAT S IF YOU REALLY ARE PROFESSIONAL, and caring, DOCTORS - ha ha. Hope you all sleep well tonight! Bye, bye.
