Just had ERCP with drains plus cholecystectomy. Liver enzymes declining but tests came back +for ANA. Follow up with primary physician not for a month. What should I be asking physician. What does this mean? I feel ok, functioning normally, but more tired. Not overweight, 5 8 , 140#, hiking every day...doing fine. Liver enzymes elevated about 10 years ago and liver biopsy done....all negative, except at that time, my liver enzymes immediately dropped after ERCP. Ten years later...here I go again. Concerned about possible chronic problem.
Hi I did review your condition, I would advice you to consult a hepatologist for possible involvement of some autoimmune liver disease Like autoimmune hepatitis or primary biliary cirrhosis. Sometimes liver biopsy can be normal in these cases in early part of the disease and a repeat biopsy from a different area helps. Also since your levels drop after ERCP,some obstructive component can also be thought of, But for that to be confirmed you might need a MRCP for diagnosis, which is non invasive test. I hope this helps. Wish you great health in future.
