What Does My Scan Test Report Indicate?

Hi There, I had breast cancer in 2010, treated w tamoxifen x 5 yrs now on anastrozole. Been having postmenopausal bleeding x 3.5 weeks. Transvaginal US showed diffuse thickening of endometrium 1.09 cm in double wall thickness, neoplasm, including malignancy cannot be excluded . I am going for an endometrial bx May 8. What percentages that it is Ca? what other diagnoses might it be? I am a nurse so speak frankly with me. Thank you, Bianca

Hi, I think there can be various reasons for postmenopausal bleeding. It can be due to a polyp, endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma. The chance of endometrial carcinoma is less but should be ruled out. Endometrial hyperplasia can be of various types and depending on that, it can be treated medically or surgically. Endometrial carcinoma can also be treated efficiently by surgery. So, don't worry too much.
