I feel my cardiologist just does Thallium stress test to collect data points, monitor my ejection fraction, and possibly as a form of defensive medicine and or reimbursement motive. I had angioplasty 20 years ago but have had no problem since that time. I run and still play soccer vigorously at 58. I am 6'1 and 185 athletic pounds. I have no unstable or unstable angina and have no shortness of breath. My doctor suggested that I have a Thallium stress test just as a check up and I just put it off. Then at my next stress test he said i had a 1mm st depression at the end of my 18 minute test (I felt nothing) and that he shoul probably do a Thallium. My feeling is that the thallium test is only going to pick up a severe blockage (>75%) and I know I have nothing like that. My choleterol ldl has been 80 or below for 20 years and I feel great. I just dont get ewhat the Thallium will accomplish other than confirm I have no >75% blockage. I know exactly what angina feels like and I pick the steepest hills I cAN FIND AND BASCICALLY RUN TO EXHAUSTION WITH NO ANGINA, just to make sure I am not getting restenosis. I guess I should go get a second opinion. Any opinion would be appreciated
