What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

I had an ultrasound last week, I have several fibroids but also large tubular anechoic structure in the right annexation, no fluid in the pelvis and 7.5 cm complex lesion in the left adnexa with homogeneous low level internal echoes and a possible mural nodule that may represent an endometrioma. Recommended MRI but nothing has been scheduled yet, should I worry this is cancer?

Hi
I have gone through your sonogram report.tubular anechoic structure in right adnexa is hydrosalphinx, means sequalae of chronic tubal infection.multiple fibroids in uterusare also benign lesions.nothing to worry for both of these.sorry to say that complex lesion with low level echos and mural lesion needs complete evaluation.they are keeping the possibility of endometrium.if it comes out endometrioma in MRI nothing to worry.but its always important to exclude cancer lesions. If stil any doubt regarding this feel free to write.
Thank you

Radiologist Dr. Indu Kumar's  Response
Hello

Your findings may suggest large complex cyst in left adnexa.
It is most likely a endometrioma. It is a benign complex cyst.It arises from growth of ectopic endometrial tissue within the ovary.
However it is important to exclude other causes, this is the reason for advising MRI.You may also need tumour markers like CA 125.
MRI and tumour markers can confirm benign nature of lesions.
Follow up imaging, conservative management and surgery requirement is advised after clinical evaluation.

Management of fibroid depend upon many factors like age, symptoms. This need proper evaluation.

Get well soon.
