I had an ultrasound of it showed mild prominence of the right renal collection system nonspecific early or partial and low grade obstruction cannot be excluded no definite calculator other focal deformity I m in a lot of pain on my right side under my right rib cage and under my back rib cage on my right side can you give me any idea as to what this means I have no problems urinating and no history of kidney problems or diabetes
This can indicate a stone or a mild infection in the kidney. A urine examination is suggested.
There is no visualized stone in the report however there is a possibility of a lower ureteric stone.
A lower ureteric stone does not match with pain in the upper abdomen and this can mean that the stone was recently passed out from the right kidney.
It will help to get a CT scan KUB (kidneys and urinary bladder) region done to evaluate the kidneys and urinary bladder in detail. Please do not worry.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis shows just prominence of right collecting system of right kidney. No definitive cause of pain on right side of abdomen is determined on ultrasonography. However, there is some evidence of obstruction in the urinary tract. Further investigations like intravenous pyelography (IVP) is required to identify the obstruction. I suggest you to consult your surgeon for IVP to locate the obtstruction and to treat the obstruction accordingly. Obstruction can be due to stone, compression by external lesion, stricture etc.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri

What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?
Hi, Thanks for writing in. The ultrasound scan shows that there is mild obstruction to the passage of urine from the right kidney to the urinary bladder through the ureter.
