What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

I recently had an ultrasound done and they found that there is a 6mm echogenic focus of the inferior pole of the left kidney which is favored to be a stone. Is this something that will pass on its own or will it need to be removed. Where is the inferior pole located in the kidney?

Hello,

If a 6 mm echogenic focus is a stone then it is a small stone and small kidney stones often pass out of the body on their own. You should wait for a couple of weeks for the stone to be flushed out. Inferior pole is the lower part of the kidney. You can also consult your nephrologist for the same if there is pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
