Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello doctor my wife is pregnant for 6th week, got ultrasound done today but no foetal nod,FCA seen? doctor advised repeat ultrasound a week later?is it a cause of concern and do ultrasound have any harmful effect on developing foetus? i really appreciate your answer .
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM A small gestational sac may be visible on ultrasound after 6 weeks of gestation. However, in most cases, fetus may be visible after 7 weeks of gestation.Absent fetal sac at this gestational age may not be a cause for concern given the fact the fetal size at this age is too small(at 6 weeks gestation, the baby is only 5-9mm long). It is a normal finding.Just be calm and do another ultrasound as advised by the Doctor. Hope this will help Best regards
