Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ultrasound results state that I have multiple hypoechoic and enlarged lymph nodes on left side of neck with the largest measuring 3.0 x 1.6 x 2.0 cm. On the right side of the neck, there are similar but slightly smaller hypoechoic lymph nodes that measure up to 1.9 C 0.5 X 1.3 cm. No fluid collection or soft tissue mass is otherwise seen. IMPRESSION: Bilateral neck adenopathy as described. Do these results suggest a certain type of cancer; indicate metastasis?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Based on the findings of ultrasound report you have enclosed, it states that there is enlargement of lymph nodes on both sides of the neck. It is difficult to state weather it is due to cancer or metastasis based on ultrasound findings. The cause for this can be known by undertaking the following investigations: 1. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC). 2. Complete Blood Count and Peripheral Smear examination. 3. Estimation of tumor markers in blood. 4. CT scan of the suspected region. Kindly consult Oncologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
