Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of pelvic ultrasound is as follows: There is presence of dominant ovarian follicle in left ovary. A dominant follicle is formed in either of the ovaries at the time of ovulation. The mature egg or ovum is released from the follicle during ovulation. Once the ovulation occurs or the dominant follicle releases mature ovum, free fluid accumulates in the pouch of Douglas. Thus, the ultrasound shows that the follicle has matured and about to release mature ovum. This time is appropriate for conception.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
