What Does My Urine Analysis Test Report Indicate?

Hi, My 3 year old nephew s Urine Analysis Result shows: Under Microscopic Examination: - Pus Cells : 3-5 HPF - RBC : 0-1/ hpf -EPITHELIAL CELLS - FEW - MUCUS THREADS- MANY - BACTERIA - RARE -BLOOD- NEGATIVE -BILIRUBIN- NEGATIVE -UROBILINOGEN- NORMAL KETONES- NEGATIVE PROTINE NEGATIVE NITRATE- NEGATIVE -GLUCOSE- NEGATIVE - REACTION/PH- 5.0 - SPECIFIC GRAVITY- 1.025 -LEUCOCYTES- TRACE What does it mean? THANK YOU!!!

Hello,

It would have been useful if you have mentioned for what symptoms this urine analysis was done for. From the mentioned report pus cells in his urine are toward higher level of normal. Usually pus cells more than 5/hpf are significant. In his case it is 3-5/hpf.

Red blood cells are also within normal range. Mucus threads are a normal finding in the urinary tract and if it is excess it is significant. Here it is mentioned as many, which can be significant. If there are symptoms of lower abdominal pain, frequent urination, pain on urination and fever with chills, kindly do a urine culture and sensitivity.
