What Does My X-ray Report Indicate?

78 year old man with chest x-ray result of 4.2 cm rounded density in right upper lobe located on the periphery. No infiltrates, No effusion, mediastinum and osseous structure unremarkable. CT scheduled for Friday, has been told to expect biopsy...............? Impression on report indicated neoplasm could not be eliminated . Are the unremarkable references important when looking at possible diagnoses from the chest x-ray?

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest there is a suspicious lesion in the right upper lobe with features of malignancy.
2.In this case one can not confirm the diagnose unless proven with CT guided biopsy ( better for smaller lesions )
3.At the same time CT with contrast will gives more detail features about the lesion and if any more lesions are there.
4.No effusion is also a good sign that it is limited to the area - no extensions.
5.If its proven operative procedure is recommended if there are no extensions further.

Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query,
