hi, my friend just had his chest x-ray. The significant findings: 1.examinations shows fibrotic infiltrates with interspersed area of lucency in the upper left lung zone 2, heart is of normal size and configuration 3. aorta is tortuous 4. other chest structures are unremarkable impressions: 1, chronic koch s infiltrates with cavitations, left upper lobe, active 2, atherosclerotic aorta what does the x-ray say in lay man s term, thanks
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. The report means 1. Chronic Koch with cavitation in left upper lobe means in left side of lung in upper region there is tuberculosis infiltration from long time which has formed cavities in lung parenchyma which is active that means he will need to take anti tuberculosis treatment after consulting the doctor. 2. Atherosclerosis of aorta means there is deposition of cholesterol in aortic wall causing thickening and hardening of the aortic wall which occurs if patient is obese or have high cholesterol in blood. Both conditions need doctor consultation which should be done as early as possible. For 2nd finding consulting a cardiologist will be preferable. I hope i have answered your questions well. Thank you
