Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had severe pain in the left side of my neck which i saw my primary care provider for and she prescribed flexeril. The pain and stiffness is still there and is now radiating up the left side of my face and head with a numbing and tingling sensation. Should i go back and see her again or just give it more time. Its been going on well over 3 months.

What Does Neck Pain On The Left Side Indicate?
Hello, Have you been previously treated for neck pain or any history of cervical disc prolapse? Left neck pain radiating above, usually, indicate nerve compression by cervical spine. It may be also due to cervical Para spinal muscle spasm. Rule out any possibility of such with an x-ray of cervical spine to begin with. Flexeril drug (muscle relaxant) usually works. When the pain is severe, you can opt muscle relaxants with NSAIDS like Thiocholchicide with Aceclofenac et cetera combinations. Any nerve weakness disorder should be ruled out. Also, consult an orthopaedician. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shakeel Khan
