I have neck pain on the right side of my neck that has been present for a couple of weeks and is getting worse. It has affected my ability to turn my neck from side to side and my sleep. Aleve and other over the counter medications do not seem to help. What are possible causes and suggestions for relieving the condition? Should a doctor be consulted at this point?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
What it appear from your history is that have some neck strain. This is common and mostly not serious but is yes is really painful. Better to give some rest to your neck and massage. Some cold or hot applications can also help a lot. I would advise u to see a physiotherapist if available nearby. If not you can see a doctor he may advise u some muscle relaxant, and painkiller.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
