What Does Numbers On The Report Indicate After Diabetic Wound?
Hi I have a diabetic wound on my calf. The dr took a c/s of it and prescribed a med. But on the report there were so many other meds that the bug was sensitive to. Those meds had s with numbers after them on the report. What are those numers and what do they represent?
When bacterial culture and sensitivity test is done, the bacteria in pus are grown over a culture media like agar. The agar contains spots where a particular antibiotic is spread and if the bacteria is sensitive to that antibiotic, the number of colonies will be least in that area. The numbers mentioned in your report is most likely the number of colonies of bacteria which have grown.
