What Does Numbness In Hand After Insect Bite Suggest?
I got an insect bite Monday, April 27th on my upper arm. It immediately swelled and itched. Continued for 5-6 days. Finally Benadryl got the swelling down and itching. You can still visibly see bite mark. Now, I have started getting numbness in my hands (yesterday) and today my left leg twice. Can these be related at all?
Thanks for you query .Well insect bite usually cause swelling and itching which is due to skin reaction .This condition should not be ignored ,because sometimes it will lead to a complication called anaphylactic shock. If benadryl gave you relief continue it.
The symptom like numbness are not usual in case of insect bite , a particular kind of insect bite can cause numbness like some species of spiders. The poison they release with there sting can start necrosis and make it dead gradually.
So its very important to consult a dermatologist before its too late ,so that he/she can start treatment as soon as possible.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
