General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The numbness on the chin indicates underlying viral lesion affecting nerve endings or else.
I suggest waiting until the effect of 2-3 doses of prednisone, following which if numbness persists, consult your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
